Green living: Save Our Earth By Living Green

3 Safe Green Cars That Teens Like

More and more people are becoming convinced everyday that humans are having a detrimental impact on global warming. This leads many individuals to take up more ‘green’ ways of living which can be done by reducing electricity used, recycling, and with environmentally friendly methods of transportation.

Parents can help their teenagers choose green vehicles to keep their environmental impact low. Because teen crash rates are high than older adults, it is also important that these vehicles are safe. Motor vehicle accidents are the number one killer of teens in America, so choosing an automobile that is both green and safe is essential.

These three choices are liked among teens and, according to, deemed safe in government crash testing by receiving five out of five scores for overall crash protection and overall side protection, and four stars for overall frontal protection:

1) 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

The 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is one of the safest green cars for a teenager. The vehicle contains a lithium polymer battery that actually doesn’t even need to be plugged in. This battery also carries a lifetime warranty. The Sonata Hybrid also boasts an estimated 40 miles per gallon (MPG) on the highway. Parents will still be happy to know that the vehicle also achieved a five star rating for frontal driver, side driver and side rear passenger impact safety. The frontal passenger safety rating achieved four stars; still an admirable rating.

2) 2013 Nissan Leaf

Nissan Leaf

Vehicles cannot get much greener than the all electric Nissan Leaf. The vehicle boasts zero emissions and gets the equivalent of 106 MPG, although it doesn’t use a drop of gas. The Leaf isn’t meant for road trips, and usually gets around 100 city miles per charge. This obviously is idea for teenagers. The 2011 Nissan Leaf also was the first fully electric car to be rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety as a Top Safety Pick.

The Leaf’s overall rating by the institute was five stars; as high of a rating as a vehicle can hope to get. The vehicle can still, however, reach speeds of 90 MPH, so it’s important for a parent to go over driver safety and following the law with their teen or else they will need to call a traffic ticket attorney in Florida or wherever they end up. By purchasing an older model, parents can save a bit of money over the 2012 and 2013 models.

3) 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid

The 2013 Toyota Camry is a popular car and it isn’t too hard on the environment either. The vehicle meets national zero emissions standards while achieving a combined 41 MPG rating. The vehicle is also amongst the safest; achieving a five star crash rating on frontal driver, side driver and side rear passenger tests. Just like the Sonata, the Camry achieved a four star rating on frontal passenger crash tests, but this still makes it among the safest vehicles on the road. Teens tend to love the eye-catching red paint job that they can choose, and parents don’t have to worry since it’s been proven that red cars really don’t get pulled over by police more often than other colored vehicles.

Choosing a green vehicle is admirable in the present-day world, but when a person is buying for their teenager, safety is probably their first consideration. The aforementioned vehicles’ designs do not put them at an increased risk of any type of crash, and they can also lessen the chance of a teen being pulled over by the police. Research has shown that sports cars, luxury sports cars and even more recently, Hummers get pulled over the most, and these vehicles definitely don’t match any of these descriptions. With these vehicles, parents can feel confident that their teenagers will be safe, have a lower chance of receiving a ticket and reduce their impact on the world all at the same time.

A traffic ticket attorney in Florida will help you find the right attorney for your particular situation and location should your teen be charged with irresponsible driving. Finding the correct legal representation is a very important task, and they can help you with accomplishing exactly that.
