Tips to Enhance Your Home & Lifestyle with Orangeries and Conservatories

As people get bored of living in the same house for years, they start looking for ways by which they can get rid of the monotony. Making additions or renovations in your home is a great way to bring freshness to your life. While some additions are only done for augmenting the aesthetic appeal of a house, there are some other options as well which offer both appeal and functionality. One such amazing option available for home owners is to construct an orangery or conservatory.

Conservatories have become the first choice of people when thinking about extensions. These have emerged as an extremely cost effective option to add some extra space and utilise it in numerous ways. The elegant structure of a conservatory or orangery can prove a valuable addition to your property. You can bring a significant change to the visual appearance of your house by adding a conservatory, which will definitely be appreciated by your family and friends. In case you plan to resell your property after some time, even then a conservatory can provide you good returns as it will increase the usable space in your house. These structures are generally made of wood and glass, which not only look beautiful but can serve a number of purposes as well.

A great use of conservatory is to turn it into living room. As there is ample light passing through the glass, it will be a great place to sit and relax during daytime and enjoy the soft warmness of sun. You can read a book while enjoying an amazing view of outdoors. It can also serve as a lively place for you and your friends to hangout or if you like socialising then you can also hold small parties for your family or close friends here.

If you have a fascination for gardening, then this can be an ideal place to start your very own garden, which is also the purpose for which the conservatories were built initially. You can grow your favourite plants, herbs and flowers and provide them a perfect shelter where they will receive enough sunshine to grow. You can even grow your own vegetables and fruits here.

Another possible use of an orangery or conservatory is to turn it into a hobby room. Whether you love painting, playing music, art and craft, reading or playing indoor games, like pool, a conservatory can ideally serve your purpose. Generally people complain about not having enough space in their homes, where they can freely indulge in their favourite past time. Well, by constructing a conservatory you can create a special place for you or your kids to enhance your painting or craft skills.

Being durable and versatile, an orangery or conservatory offers you plenty of ways to use it anyway you want. It is not only functional but can also enhance the value of your house in many ways. The idea is to be innovative and think of a new way to make the best use of your newly constructed orangery or conservatory.

  • Nice article, I think conservatories are sometimes a misused room which dosnt get proper use of it. I’ve turned mine into a dining area as before we only had a kitchen diner, and it’s lovely to be able to look into and admire the garden when eating!
